Hot weather changes how your padel grip behaves. Hands sweat more quickly, overgrips become saturated faster and players often compensate by squeezing the racket harder. A better approach is to manage moisture and traction before the grip becomes a problem.
Use a fresh overgrip
Start warm-weather sessions with a clean overgrip. Older grips absorb less effectively and are more likely to become slick once perspiration increases.
Dry your hands between games
Keep a towel close by and dry the palm, fingers and wrist regularly. Small amounts of moisture are easier to manage than a completely saturated grip.
Apply grip products lightly
Grip sprays and pastes can increase friction in humid conditions, but over-application can make the handle feel unnatural. Start with a small amount and add more only if necessary.
Consider hand-drying products
If your hands sweat heavily, reducing moisture at the skin can help keep the entire grip system working for longer.
Carry spares
On hot days, bring more than one spare overgrip. Replacing a saturated grip mid-session can immediately restore comfort and control.
